Unravelled in New York is a contemporary romance written by Suzanne Nicole. Charli Cooper’s ready for a new start, and she’s leaving the familiar skylines of her native Australia for the bustle and glamour of New York City. She’ll be staying with her friend, Mia, while she takes part in a journalist exchange programme at the New York Herald. Mia Benson’s father, Daniel, was her editor-in-chief at the Australian newspaper where Charli worked, and the two friends were shattered when Daniel was promoted to the paper’s New York sister paper. After Mia left, Charli fell in love with Alex, whose infidelities and broken promises culminated in a betrayal at their engagement party. Now that she has a new life in a vibrant and exciting city, Charli’s determined to enjoy life as a single, unattached young woman, but the stunningly gorgeous man who was glowering down at her after she spilled drinks all over his shirt at a party spells trouble for her new found resolve.
Suzanne Nicole’s sweet contemporary romance, Unravelled in New York, is a fresh, original and vibrant feel-good story about two damaged and defensive individuals who seem determined to deny their attraction to each other. Nicole’s New York and Vegas settings are inspired. I enjoyed seeing the city, especially Central Park, through Charli and Jack’s eyes and sharing Charli’s excitement as she gets to know her new hometown. At one point, the two sparring partners share a game of truth or dare which is funny and endearing all at once. This is a well-written, lively and sophisticated romance brimming with missteps, errors and anticipation that are a hoot to read. I had a marvelous time getting to know Jack and Charli and enjoyed braving their turbulent and tumultuous relationship. Unravelled in New York is highly recommended.
