Wally is a penguin that loves the cold place where he lives, but he is always cold there. The snow is wonderful, but he wants to be warm and feel the sun on his body, quite unlike other penguins. He uses a hat, mittens and boots to keep warm and he would like to get rid of them once and for all. He dreams of warm places, and one day he hears about an island that is all he could wish for. He travels to the Galapagos Islands and loves it there from the very beginning.
The pages are full of rhymes that feel very natural and fun. Each page explores different animals, crustaceans, birds and more that live in the Galapagos Islands. Wally the Warm-Weather Penguin by Stephanie M. Ward, illustrated by Vanessa Landin, is a cute book full of warm colors. It has the nicest drawings I have seen. The colorful pictures will attract little as well as big eyes, from children to their parents alike.
It is a great book for a trip or just to stay at home with by the fire. It is nicely done, both by the author and the illustrator. It will warm your heart to read the story as you sift through its colorful pages. It is a book children and teachers will love to own. It would be a great gift for someone you love dearly. It has a great lesson on how to follow your dreams and make them come true.
