In Walter Times Two by Annika Champenois, Aurelia Jackson is shocked when she receives a proposal on her doorstep from a young man, Walter, whom she saw briefly at the science fair. Despite his insistence about their relationship, she has no memory of him, other than their brief conversation. Walter tries to convince Aurelia he has gone back too far in time, and she must date the current version of himself who isn't as familiar with her. Aurelia assumes Walter isn't mentally stable, but the first Walter pursues her, recalling pieces of her life he wouldn't have known from casual conversations or spying on her. Mysterious men start random explosions in town that may be more closely linked to Walter's studies than Aurelia would have guessed.

Annika Champenois has crafted a unique love story that's hard to put down. The plot will grab readers' attention, and the story will keep them turning the pages. It's refreshing to read a Christian romance with a heavy focus on science that doesn't stray from faith in God. The author makes room for devotion to the Lord and prayer throughout her work, weaving it into the daily lives of the characters as they experience untraditional circumstances. Champeonis's vegetable-eating, science- and literary-driven characters are easy to love and hard to leave. Readers will hope for a happy ending but wonder if the two Walters will ever merge or remain two separate entities. Walter Times Two is a great selection for readers who enjoy clean romance, strong characters, and science fiction.
