In Water Dance, #2 in the Lake Michigan Lodge Series by Kathy Fawcett, we find Kay and Luke married and returning from a honeymoon to face the summer season at Kerby Lodge. Kay is excited about her two teenage nieces, Bella and Wren, coming to spend a month with her, though it doesn’t turn out exactly as she planned. Renovations are still taking place; Bella has made friends with Max, the rich kid who is angry and doesn’t believe rules were made for him. Kay, trying to be the good aunt, tries to ignore the bad influence he and his family have but it keeps getting harder and harder. Luke has left on a business trip and Kay quickly finds herself unhappy and grouchy over everything. There are shopping trips to town with Belle and Wren, cookouts and a Labor Day party, and friends and family coming and going. The summer season is coming to an end and it is time to get ready once again for the Fall.
Water Dance, #2 in the Lake Michigan Lodge Series, brought me back to Kerby Lodge to spend some more time with Kay. I really liked Shoulder Season, Book 1, but this story was a whole lot more enjoyable in my opinion. Water Dance made me want to jump on a plane and make reservations at the Lodge to meet all of the people who live and work there. Water Dance was a quick read and I was sorry to see it end, though I really liked the way it did. I am hoping that Book 3 is not far behind. Kathy Fawcett made the characters come alive, along with the feeling of sand between my toes and hearing the waves breaking on the shore. This book can stand on its own, but I recommend you read both Book 1 and Book 2 for you will surely not be disappointed.
