Watering My Soul by Ella Kate Reeves is a beautiful collection of soul searching poetry which takes readers on a journey of the author's personal struggles in life where one can relate to the experiences in the true sense of the words. The poet bares her soul so readers can connect to her feelings and words. The poems are succinct, beautiful, and full of honesty. The clarity of her thoughts and excellent emotional expressions are a revelation of her craft. Her poems have wonderful images that enhance the aesthetic and visual appeal of her writing. The images and lines convey a sense of inner strength.

The choice of themes is strong. Every word in her writing counts as they take readers through the beauty of her writing. The transient and eternal aspects that form an integral part of human lives is captured well in her poems. Her inner journey is revealed to readers in her poem 'I'M NOT JUST WRITING' which speaks about her need to connect with her inner self and reveal her true self to readers. The multiple layers of interpretation in these poems make it a thought provoking and profound read. The poet's observations on life are small and simple, but it is a rewarding and enriching experience to readers.

It is an excellent collection, rich in language and metaphors. The amazing capture of the life and the inner world of the poet, the mastery of language, and great use of words make it a powerful collection.

if you want to read some poetry to crack your heart open, and shake your soul awake... read this. I am no poetry expert but these writings touched me in a way that I can't quite explain... the feeling is visceral, primal... just buy it and you will see what I mean.

Blown away-unusual,raw and inspiring. Feel in an altered state , wonderful visuals and such a broad and rich use of language and poetic style.

Love this book! Depth, humour, exploration and a rhythmic delivery of the return from the dark night of the soul! I love the range and variety of emotions you have to ride with the poet - a real wake up call.

This is clever stuff, at once insightful and tender-hearted. Sometimes
auto-biographical and at others thoughtful, her poems always leads to a
point where a lightbulb goes on: "aha!".

This - her first collection - is richly textured and it makes you
think: a cursory reading is simply not enough to understand Kate Reeves.
A favourite approach is to take on everyday assumptions (what does the
"I do" of marriage actually mean?) and break them open. Yet her poems
are just as likely to critique contemporary politics, or explore the
complicated situations that her difficult life story throws at her.
Then, just as you think you've got the hang of it, she'll switch the
scenario and enter (for example) a first person narrative of the
Siberian permafrost in the guise of a root, channelling pure nature.
It's certainly a ride.

Watering My Soul is Kate Reeves giving thanks to poetry and the colour,
fun and insight that it brings to her life. And what an interesting
combination that is.

Watering My Soul is a highly unusual collection of poetry. Heart-wrenching and sobering, at other moments inspiring and uplifting - this book takes you on a roller-coaster journey of emotional catharsis and divine transformation. The juxtaposition between the unique and original, prose-like language born of Ella Kate's imagination and life experience, and the occasional, unexpected bursts of rhyme give a rhythm to the poems that propels one to read on. Reading Watering my Soul is to witness Ella Kate's deep inner struggles and successes. Like the last few lines of the final poem - "I'm not just writing - I'm dancing into myself - Time and time again - Setting myself on fire - And free - I'm not just writing - I'm showing all of me". I read the poems and it is as if she is letting me KNOW her - no holds barred. And it feels like an honour and a privilege.
