Wildchilds by Eugenia Melian is the story of a woman who is forced to confront her past if she wants her future to be happy with her daughter. Iris rebuilt her life as a sculptor and left her past behind in Paris. Living in California with her daughter Lou, she is a sculptor who is content with her life. However, that illusion is broken when Gus, the man she loved, dies and leaves his fortune to Lou. Gus was a fashion and art photographer and some of his collection went missing. Iris will have to look for the missing pieces in order for Lou to get her inheritance. Upon returning to Paris and doing some groundwork, Iris realizes that someone else is looking for the missing collection and they are ready to do whatever it takes to get their hands on it. To make matters worse, someone from her past is trying to stir up old ugly memories that she repressed a long time ago. What will Iris do?

Wildchilds by Eugenia Melian was an emotional roller coaster ride that I was not prepared for. The mystery behind the missing collection and why Gus added that condition in the will had me riveted. I was most interested in finding the reason why Iris left Paris and wanted to settle in California. I wanted to know what made her leave a happy, settled life behind and start afresh. Iris is a smart woman but is also hiding her intelligence behind the mask of a simple woman. I enjoyed the thrill I got as the story progressed and Iris became more confident. The ride to find the collection, the person who is hell-bent on revealing Iris’s past and her reasons to keep her head down was intense yet very entertaining. This closer look into the world of fashion away from the glitz and glamour was a splendid journey. I loved this book!
