Wing Stroke is a work of fiction in the fantasy, adventure, and interpersonal drama genres, and is the second novel of the Wings series. Penned by author M. A. Arana, the plot follows Prince Mabon Sevilla, clouded by doubt over his impending reign as King of Ava after the Garghons steal the Dark Magic Book to bolster their power. With his twin sons held captive by the Garghons, Prince Mabon faces a race against time, having only five days to rescue them and retrieve the Dark Magic Book. Failure means losing his sons forever and witnessing his wife's gruesome fate. M. A. Arana utilizes every drop of imagination and creativity to craft an immersive and exciting journey into a world filled with intrigue, danger, and redemption.
The themes of revenge and transformation are used effectively in this well-constructed and pacy plot, where the stakes are high and every decision carries weight. The close narrative style lets us sit on our hero’s shoulder and feel the pressure mounting as every challenge adds more emotion to his journey. As Prince Mabon navigates the well-described, atmospheric landscape around him, I found myself drawn deeper into the narrative, rooting for his success against formidable odds. The blend of magic and warfare is peppered with dark touches that add to the building atmosphere of danger and dread, with some great lexical choices and descriptive details to bring even the smallest facets of the world to life. Overall, Wing Stroke by author M. A. Arana is a highly recommended read for fantasy fans everywhere seeking strong characters, brilliant descriptive writing, and a superbly enjoyable plot.
