Author Biography

British born Tracey Christiansen is a run-off-her-feet mother of two girls, caretaker to one cat and mostly uncomplaining wife to her Danish husband.
After travelling the globe for nearly three decades, learning a smattering of languages en route, Tracey has settled in Sweden, unpacked the boxes from her numerous sojourns and hung the curtains, finally allowing her time to concentrate on writing fulltime. She’s translated and published articles and short stories for a variety of publications and was just putting the finishing touches to her first novel when Janne and Carl asked her to write their story of how two seasick electricians took up the life-changing challenge to learn to sail and circumnavigate the globe. After being plied with copious glasses of wine, it seems she acquiesced.
When not nagging her husband of 25 years or acting as social secretary and chauffeur to her children, she enjoys reading, drinking cocktails, napping on the sofa and embarrassing her teenage daughters by dancing in public.

Brave or Stupid by Tracey Christiansen, Yanne Larsson and Carl-Erik Andersson is a rich narration of how two best friends fulfilled their dream of sailing around the world. Carl and Yanne had been best friends for very many years, and one day they thought of taking a sailing trip around the world. What started out as just a loose idea by Carl soon became a serious goal and the two started planning what would turn out to be the adventure of their lives. For five years, the two planned and prepared, ensuring that they would be absolutely ready for the challenges of the sea. In June 2002, after more than two decades of a solid friendship, they left Sweden and their friends and families behind, and set off to see the world aboard their beloved boat. Their story takes you from island to island, city to city, beach to beach, and all the glory and challenges of the three-year journey. Come along now and enjoy the trip of your life as you see the world through their experiences.

Brave or Stupid by Tracey Christiansen, Yanne Larsson and Carl-Erik Andersson is an amazing story about a journey around the world filled with bravery, inspiration, going after your dreams, and living life to the fullest. The experience each part of the journey gave Carl and Yanne was simply priceless and even the numerous challenges they had to overcome just added to making the journey even more memorable as they moved from one destination to another, taking in life and learning the different cultures and lifestyles along the way. The numerous pictures of the different places they visited added to the beauty of the story, especially the breathtaking images of the islands and the beaches. Their experience is beyond description and reading their story had me thinking that anything is possible; all you have to do is want it badly enough and work towards achieving it. So, Brave or Stupid? I would say brave, definitely brave.

A beautifully written tale of friendship, adventure and travel which has made this landlubber seriously consider donning a life-jacket and learning to sail. The comical tone will keep you smiling, the description of far-off lands will have you reaching for the atlas - or Google Maps - and the interesting background to each destination will have you saying "I never knew that!"

All in all, a fantastic read which makes one cherish the time with the book and these two endearing men, whose epic journey comes vividly alive on every page. Would make a wonderful gift for anyone.

Yanne and Carl’s determination took them on an incredible adventure around the world and reading their book, Brave or Stupid, enabled me to experience their circumnavigation with them. The book offers an amazing read with nail biting moments from almost sinking, plummeting from waves in the Atlantic and chasing thieves on the small island of Vio to the heartwarming moments from the unforgettable friends they make along their journey. Brave or Stupid instantly became a favorite book of mine and I was captured by how they together manage to keep their spirits up and always overcome the obstacles they encounter. I definitely recommend reading the book and discovering the inspirational true story of how two seasick men decide to follow their dream and sail around the world.
