In The Griffin Knight Crime Files: Books 3 to 5 by Miguel Angel Hernandez Jr., Detective Griffin Knight faces three disturbing murder investigations. Griffin travels from New York to Chicago and Miami. In The Nocturnal Devil, Knight hunts a masked predator who abducts women, believing himself to be the physical incarnation of death. He sees the victims’ life force as the first step toward transformation into a higher being. In The Windy City Terror, a badly mutilated body is discovered in Chicago’s sewers. Initially, investigators suspect the victim was caught in a boat propeller, but Griffin believes something far more sinister lurks beneath the city. In Miami Vengeance, Officer Ruiz’s death presents a disturbing mystery involving a combination of drug overdose and electrocution. The discovery of Ruiz’s drug use reveals a different side of Griffin’s friend.
I enjoyed reading these three crime thrillers by Miguel Angel Hernandez Jr. Not one of them had the same storyline. I was hooked from the first page and could not stop until I finished. Griffin let his instincts lead his investigations and would not let up until he found the killer. After a while, I started feeling as if I knew Griffin. The stories were filled with mystery, obsession, and revenge. It showed the hidden darkness within humans. At times, I was scared of what would come next, but I could not put the book down. All the stories kept my attention throughout, and I enjoyed reading them one after the other. I liked that I got to know some of the characters better. The book was brilliantly written and much more than I expected.
