A Bus Can’t Drive Empty: An Alphaballiteration Adventure by Davon Miller follows three zebra friends whose ordinary ride home from school quickly turns into an imaginative journey when their bus runs out of gas. Instead of stopping the trip, Chris, the bus driver, finds creative ways to keep them moving, leading the zebras across mountains, onto a gondola, over water on a floating log, and even aboard a pirate ship. Each new mode of travel introduces a playful twist, keeping the story lively as the characters continue their determined trek home. Along the way, the book weaves alphabet learning into the narrative through rhythmic alliteration, giving each page a distinct letter focus. The story moves forward with curiosity and fun, inviting young readers to anticipate what comes next while enjoying the antics of the zebras and their resourceful driver.
