In A Concoction of Lies, a thriller by Patsy Robertson, Charlotte's excessive drinking became a serious issue, and she died after a car accident that she caused. It was revealed that Charlotte had been misusing funds from various charities she managed, transferring money between organizations to cover shortfalls and create the illusion of profits. Despite his innocence, no one would believe that Chance was not complicit or had been unaware of Charlotte's actions. Chance resigned from the FBI and left Virginia. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Chance reached out to his old friend and former FBI colleague, Mack Owens, who was involved in stealing money from criminals who swindled people out of their life savings. Mack proposed that Chance join him, and their final hack targeted the bank account belonging to a cartel. But Mack did not contact Chance after the hack.
Patsy Robertson took me on a roller coaster ride in A Concoction of Lies. It was jam-packed with action and filled with lies, murder, and betrayal. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages as fast as possible. There was a great variety of characters, each with a unique background. The chapters alternated between the main characters in which their pasts and present were discussed. The writing style was engaging and held my attention from the first page until the last. The story was fascinating, and I kept wondering what would become of Chance after he was kidnapped. I could never predict what would happen next and was guessing until the end. I enjoyed reading this story, and my expectations were exceeded by far.
