In America's First Love, Dana J. Bahan calls for America's return to its spiritual roots. The book revolves around the 'First Love' concept, meaning the nation’s early dedication to God and biblical law. It also examines how the Founders understood God as the source of rights, in contrast to today’s materialistic and self-reliant mindset. A significant portion of the text is dedicated to warning readers against the encroachment of Marxist ideologies and what Bahan calls 'Constitutional Crimes', or the watering down of founding documents. There’s a lot of focus on Gen Z and a recent uptick in Bible sales, suggesting that a revival might already be brewing among younger people despite the secular atmosphere. It’s a call for repentance and more active civic duty.

America's First Love by Dana J. Bahan has a strong perspective on the country's spiritual state. The development of the author's argument is interesting because it connects biblical principles to the Founders’ worldview and then applies that framework to current debates like gender identity and tax policy. The part where Washington refused to be king was such a highlight for me! It really hammers home how much the book values personal integrity over just following any political party. The tone is very conversational, so you don’t ever feel like you’re drowning in heavy political theory, even though it’s written with a Christian worldview in mind. The pacing is fairly even, though it intensifies a little when discussing the dangers of socialism. It’s a stimulating read for anyone who feels like America has lost its way and needs a reminder of where it started as a country.
