What would you do for the ones you love? Hali loses her child and partner trying to complete a world-saving spell. Devastated, she devotes her life to bringing them back, which leads her down a dark and dangerous path. Tio, a socially anxious druid, Alim, a magicless former Dreamer who yearns to be magical, and Hali, an old celestial bound to the spirits of her lost loved ones and an evil spirit, find themselves traveling the same path. Arboreal Path blends together the stories of these three characters into an intricate adventure full of action, love, friendship, magic, and poignant moments. Jason M. Vallery creates a beautiful tale of fantasy that anyone who loves magic will adore.

With moments that made me cry, breathtaking descriptions, innovative creations, and tons of magic, Arboreal Path has everything I could ask for from a fantasy novel. The scenery is not only vivid and cleverly written but also imaginative. I love the color palette that flows through the book and ties it all together. The relationship between Tio and Alim is beautiful and brilliantly written. They make the sweetest friends with their distinctly opposite personalities complementing each other beautifully. I love the seamless inclusion of gender-neutral Alim. I also love the inclusion of social anxiety without heavy-handedness. Jason M. Vallery brings together relatable themes of friendship, and anxiety and blends them with magic, monsters, and adventure. The chapter headers are perfect additions. I hope that there is a sequel in the works.
