Baby in Paris by Dorian Day is a children’s book about a family's visit to the City of Light. It begins after a long, tiring flight as they reach their hotel. After checking in, the parents decide it’s time to rest. Baby has other ideas and heads out on an adventure. The Arc de Triomphe is the tiny tot’s first stop. Next are a ride along the Seine, a snack at a café, and visits to Notre-Dame Cathedral and other famous sites. Before long, the sleepy baby goes back to the room for a nap. At the end of the story, the mother wakes up from an upsetting dream. In it, her child is wandering through Paris all alone. Then she looks over to see her child asleep, and feels much better. Was it all a dream, or did it really happen?

Baby in Paris by Dorian Day was such a sweet story. The simple text keeps the focus on Baby's travels and makes it easy for young readers to understand. My favorite stop was the Eiffel Tower. I'm interested in architecture, so I've always found that famous landmark amazing. I was very happy to see it as part of the journey. I think this book could get kids curious about other places around the globe. The illustrations were absolutely beautiful. From the very first page, I was drawn to the artwork and its soothing quality. The calming pictures make this the perfect tale to share before bed. I also appreciated the clever way the author created a bit of mystery surrounding the ending. Anyone looking for a children’s book about travel, famous landmarks, and adventurers will want to pick this one up. Baby in Paris belongs in homes, libraries, and anywhere young learners dream about seeing the world.
