Behind the Lens: The Art & Inspiration of a Photographer by Mikael Sundberg highlights Mikael’s passion for and amazing ability to share stories through his camera lens. The photographs in this book are stunning, and the knowledge he imparts is inspiring. This book's abundance of photographic knowledge pushes the photographic hobbyist to the next level. Mikael’s statement that “the emotion and message conveyed in the image are more important than technical perfection” helps clarify that technical perfection is not the goal. A good photographer is always ready to take advantage of any situation that may pop up. I have been an amateur photographer for over fifty years, and the information in this book inspires me to take even more pictures. This is so much more than a “how-to” book. It is an invitation to be inspired and to inspire.
Mikael Sundberg is one of the most amazing photographers whose work I have seen. In simple terms, Mikael inspires the reader in Behind the Lens. Even if you have no desire to become a photographer, this book will thrill you as you turn page after page of some of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen. For each section/chapter, Mikael shares one of his awe-inspiring photos, his technique, a description of the image with the motivation that inspired him to snap the shot, and then he advises on creating your own stunning shots. Mikael also discusses the top beginner photography mistakes to avoid. Mikael shares his experiences, thoughts, and heart in this wonderful book. I highly recommend it for photographers and non-photographers alike.
