In Bigot List: A Reckoning, an espionage thriller by J. Sydney Jones, Jake Jacobs left the CIA more than twenty years ago and is now a history professor in Oregon. Jake conducted research for his project, which he named "The Fourth Mole." He became increasingly convinced that there was a fourth mole within the U.S. intelligence community as he dug deeper into the hits the agency sustained in the 1980s. During a lesson, Jake lost his students’ attention when they saw his photo on a website. Jake’s name was on a hit list on the Reckoning website, which promised vengeance for an agent who was killed during an op in Vienna in 1988. Jake hooked up with his arch-enemy to find the Reckoning site and the person responsible since he would rather be the hunter than the hunted.
Bigot List: A Reckoning is a rollercoaster ride of espionage, mystery, betrayal, and murder. J. Sydney Jones created an exciting and engaging story with descriptive scenes. It was a page-turner, and I was hooked from the start. The story was fast-paced and jam-packed with action. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next. I could not put it down; I was too afraid I would miss something. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the end. The characters were authentic and relatable. Jake and his archenemy worked together to find the person who wanted vengeance, and their backstories helped me understand them better. The story was well-written, and the ending was a big surprise; I did not see it coming.
