The poems in the heartfelt collection Birthed, Rebirthed, and Born: Turned Around Again by Joseph Michael Shucraft express deep hope in Jesus Christ even during times of sorrow. Through the experiences covered, God is seen as faithful, an ever-present guide, a shepherd, and more. The first poem in the collection, “New Day, New Beginning,” is a poem of praise that glorifies God for his almighty perfection and his wisdom. The poem “He’s There Without You” questions where God is during painful times but ends with the revelation of his continual presence even in such times. The collection also contains a delightful touch of romance through poems such as “Wedding,” a poem in which the narrator expresses the pride and happiness he feels towards his bride.
I loved how Birthed, Rebirthed, and Born is authentic in its depiction of the Christian walk: with its highs and lows but also filled with hope in a loving Father. Throughout the collection, Shucraft skilfully captures the emotions associated with each experience. The poems also answer significant questions about God’s faithfulness and his willingness to be involved in our lives and they share uplifting truth about his caring nature. The collection also effectively employs metaphors to paint vibrant and striking images of the scenes in the poems. The love poems included add a lovely twist to the collection. They instill hope and are a beautiful image of romantic love. Birthed, Rebirthed, and Born: Turned Around Again by Joseph Michael Shucraft contains moving poems about hope and love.
