Anne Crosby continues her journey of discovery regarding her apparent transformation into a dragon. Blood to Fire (Red Slaves #2) by Tonya Cannariato picks up with the efforts of Anne, Ivan, Igor, Olga, and the rest of the group to understand the connection between ceramic figurines, a strange group of men, and Anne’s destiny of being mated with Ivan. The flight of the four dragons leads to the world of the mystical where Anne learns about her role as the leader of the flight and only hope of renewing the world’s population of dragons. It is obvious that they all need a lot of instruction but are managing to discover their connection to the sentient rocks of their lair, natural elements, and their own brain waves and thoughts. In spite of a lengthy absence, the human friends they have made maintain the care they provide to the group but one of them must be exposed as a possible traitor.
Tonya Cannariato has created a rich mythical environment right in plain sight of a nearby Russian town in Blood to Fire. Legend and lore blend with natural science to explain the appearance of dragons and the incredible cave system they inhabit in the 20th century. These remnants of an almost extinct race must combine efforts with some human friends to learn as much as possible to not only care for and understand themselves but to create a new generation and discover others like them who were also imprisoned by people seeking to learn their secrets.
Find out just how difficult it is for an independent American woman to become the leader of a flight of dragons and give up everything she has ever known. I really enjoyed this author's creativity.
