Wow! I’m not sure if that’s an appropriate way to start a book review, but that is definitely what I thought when I finished reading CLUB MEDicine by debut author Jack Kinsley, following our lead character, Travis Martin, as he continues to live a dual life. His public persona, that of the very successful rehab center owner, a man who has recovered from addiction himself, married a beautiful woman and become a father, and pulled himself up by his bootstraps to become a true American success story is a person admired and envied by many. His private self, his true self, is that of a man whose marriage is falling apart and who has secretly and stealthily returned to his former drug use. With lots of problems under the surface at his rehab center as well, everything in Travis’ life seems to be unraveling at the same time, and with unexpected and dark results.
CLUB MEDicine was a fantastic, fantastic read. I simply loved it. I have not read a book with this storyline before, and in this day and age, it seems as if finding a truly unique read is almost like finding a unicorn; it’s hard to believe it exists. But it does, and Jack Kinsley’s work is proof of that. Any reader who loves great fiction, an exciting read or simply enjoys a book with a unique premise and a great twist will love this book. The only word of caution I have to offer is to be sure you’ll have the time to read this book from start to finish because when you pick it up, you won’t want to put it down. Jack Kinsley, I hope you’re working on your next book as we speak, because I am eagerly waiting to read more from you!
