Deathly Desire: The Westport Mysteries, Lizzie, Book 3 is a romantic novel of suspense written by Beth Prentice. Lizzie’s life was coming together just about as perfectly as it could. Her boyfriend, Riley, was a gorgeous hunk who was crazy about her, and they would soon be working on house restoration projects as a team. She had gotten such rave reviews over her restoration of her little two-bedroom Victorian that she felt confident enough to give up the bookkeeping business, which she loathed, and go into interior design, which she loved. And, she and Riley had found an older, long-vacant home that got her brainstorming about the challenges and excitement of making that house shine again. So what could go wrong? First, there was the news that Joe Woods, her stalker, was out on parole, and then there was the slightly awkward fact that Ed Helms, a Senior Sergeant with the Westport Police Department and her liaison with the department, had a definite crush on her. And things would only prove to get more complicated after that.
Beth Prentice’s Deathly Desire is a fast-paced and exciting novel that blends the family saga, thriller and sleuth mystery genres into an entertaining and credible romance. Lizzie’s stalker problems are quite literally terrifying and the exploits of her feisty grandmother provide some marvelous comic relief. Prentice’s plot offers plenty of red herrings for the armchair sleuth to consider, and her characters are credible and well defined. And while this is the third book in The Westport Mysteries Series, Prentice gives enough background information for this book to be enjoyed as a standalone novel. Deathly Desire: The Westport Mysteries, Lizzie, Book 3 is most highly recommended.
