Author Biography

I was raised as a military brat. My father was a colonel in the Marine Corps. As a teenager I rebelled and ran off with a hippie to Canada and the Yucatan. I’ve lived all over this country, including Oregon, Washington State, and California, and I’ve traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico and Guatemala.
I live on a small ranch in rural Florida with three horses, 30 head of cattle and various assorted cow dogs. I’ve learned to leg a bull calf, run the hot shot (cattle prod), and operate a squeeze chute. In our house everything is counted by the head. We have five head of dogs, ten head of chickens, and two head of cats.
I love writing Science Fiction. Andre Norton was my hero when I was growing up. I love her work and it inspired me to write SciFi.
My writing partner, Gabe Thompson, is a disabled vet. Thompson was in the Air Force stationed overseas. He is a military expert and a weapons expert. He adds depth, a masculine view point and youthful energy to the work.

Descendants is a work of fiction in the science fiction and adventure subgenres, and it forms the third installment of The Vagrant Chronicles book series. It is intended for young adult readers and was penned by author team Gabe Thompson and Janet Post. Picking up where Mutant, the second novel, left off, we find ourselves preparing for the story's grand finale, with those left on Gliese trying to run the new colony. But when Shayna makes contact with Earth and discovers that a new outbreak of war has changed everything there, this sets off a devastating chain of events that endangers the colony and could spell disaster for every effort the survivors have made so far.

There’s a lot to follow and a lot going on in this thrilling novel, and author team Gabe Thompson and Janet Post do a great job at keeping the scenes moving and filled with tension so that a YA reader will never get too overwhelmed. The craftsmanship in the dialogue is also hugely helpful for this, as it spares us huge reams of prose for exposition and allows characters to explain their movements, motives, and struggles to us directly. A particular highlight for me was to see Razor overcome such dangerous and emotional turmoil and still be able to push through it to join the others. Overall, Descendants is a full-throttle ending to a powerful trilogy filled with complex adventures and interpersonal relationships, and The Vagrant Chronicles series will make a great introduction to mature science fiction for YA readers looking to branch out.
