Doubloon Cove: The Secret of the Templars' Satchel is the second book of the Doubloon Cove Series by Kelly Novak. It's 1992, and the Doubloon Cove gang, siblings Cindy and Jeffrey, alongside their friend, Steven, have arrived in Salem hoping to spend a parent-free weekend. But when Cindy's friend Stacy seeks their help in rescuing her kidnapped father, the trio is determined to help their friend. It turns out Stacy's father had passed down a satchel that holds many Freemason secrets. The little group splits apart briefly to investigate, and Cindy and Stacy find themselves wanted by the authorities. Meanwhile, Jeffrey and Steven run into the Illuminati, who claim Solomon's secret for their own. With Stacy's father safely rescued, the Doubloon Cove gang must now follow the trail of a powerful talisman that will force them to raid an ancient tomb.

The Famous Five meets The Da Vinci Code. That's what it felt like reading Doubloon Cove: The Secret of the Templars' Satchel. Kelly Novak doesn't miss a beat and weaves a fast-paced, action-packed yarn that pulls you in from the first page and has your attention locked on until the last word. Novak's plotting is intricate, and the author keeps you on the edge of your seat with timely reveals and twists and turns at regular intervals that constantly take you by surprise. The inter-group dynamics and banter between the members of the Doubloon Cove gang are easy to love. This is the perfect sleuth mystery series for kids and young adults. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and you will too!
