Teresa Anne Power’s Each One Blooms is a lovely, slow-paced story about the beauty of differences. A tender-hearted gardener walks through the park with a basket full of bulbs. When a group of children stops him, they ask what’s inside. What follows is a poignant conversation. He plants the bulbs in the ground while explaining that they all look the same, but each bulb has a different story waiting to happen. Some will become roses, some daffodils, some tulips, and some something wonderfully unexpected. Through soft watercolor artwork and warm, simple language, this picture book invites young readers to appreciate their uniqueness and others to make a beautiful world—just like a garden—because everyone has a place.

Each One Blooms helps kids understand that everyone grows and shines in their own way, and on their own timeline. Teresa Anne Power’s soft, comforting language ensures that the message shines across the pages. For me, that makes it a timeless classic, especially for parents, teachers, and carers who want to nurture children's confidence without feeling preachy or heavy-handed. The flower metaphor is so powerful that the self-esteem lesson comes naturally. Young readers will absorb the idea of individuality through the story. Parents will appreciate that it opens the door to real conversations about comparison, patience, and self-worth, especially for children who feel like they’re behind their peers in some way. Ethan Roffler's illustrations bring it to life, adding a warm feeling. If you are looking for a meaningful addition to your child’s bookshelf, this is a book families will want to read together over and over again.
