Éclair Goes to Stella's (Éclair Book 1) by M. Weidenbenner is a charming and cute story for girls. Éclair and her sister Megan have to go and live with their grandma as their mother is sick and their father is working. Their grandmother lives on a farm in Indiana and the whole scenario is different for Éclair. Éclair does not like her grandma Stella initially and she thinks Stella does not treat the animals on the farm well. But things change and then Éclair starts liking Stella. This book deals with the fears of a seven-year-old when they are in places where everything is new.
Éclair’s innocence, thoughts and getting adjusted to her new surrounding will entertain readers. Her thoughts about her grandmother, who does not like to be called grandmother because it makes her feel old, are also an interesting part of the story. The author has captured the many shades of emotions that Éclair goes through initially when she moves in with Stella. The book teaches kids about loneliness, trust and friendship and the beautiful relationship Éclair shares with the horse. The book has its funny moments too. Through the emotions of Éclair, the author has beautifully captured the fears of a young girl who has to change homes. The book also speaks about animal safety. Though all the illustrations are in black and white, they are well done and give movement and life to the characters and story. It is a wonderful story book for kids who love animals. I am sure the next part will be equally fascinating.
