Fire Trap: A Young Adult Fantasy by A.L. Knorr is the second book in the sizzling Arcturus Academy series. Saxony's relationship with Gage is heating up but her mage-bond with his brother makes her life complicated. Ryan continues to get under her skin as he blackmails her to achieve his own agenda to obtain more power. Saxony works the best she can to thwart his diabolical plans but Ryan always seems to be a step ahead and Gage continues to be blind to his brother's schemes. Saxony knows it's only a matter of time before Ryan gets what he wants but she's determined to do whatever it takes to stop him.
This fiery sequel is an amazing second arc in Saxony's journey as a new semester starts but she finds that her old problems are still there. The plot picks up where the first book left off with A.L. Knorr further exploring the relationships Saxony has with each of the brothers. These relationships add a balanced mix of romance and drama to the story as Saxony is pulled between the good brother and the bad brother. Each of these characters is well-rounded in how Saxony views them. While one brother fulfills the role of a love interest, the other serves as her primary antagonist which frustrates her by pulling her into the middle of their relationship with each other. Knorr constantly delivers characters that are relatable and layered with vivid personalities, agendas, and dynamics. The friendship with April is a much-appreciated part of the story for the positive example of a female friendship in how they communicate, empower, and help each other. The story explores more of the fun fire-themed setting, classes, and personalities. This series continues to impress with plenty of twists and turns as Knorr ups the stakes and the drama in Fire Trap with more flames, romance, and drama.
