What a fun, fun, fun time I just had reading! Maybe not something you hear every day, but it was certainly the truth for me when I read Getting It Right the Second Time Around by debut author Jennifer Frank. This delightful story follows 28-year-old Alison Henning as she inherits $2 million dollars from her quirky Aunt Elinor if she finishes law school, a dream she’d given up to appease her former fiancé. Alison’s life hadn’t been so bad before, she had a great job, a nice apartment in the highly sought-after Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston, a great family and great friends. But she hadn’t really been going anywhere. And in fact, since her fiancé had broken off their engagement she’d just been kind of stuck. Will she have the courage to go back and do what she’d intended years ago, to start the life she could have had? And when other complications enter her life, like a calling to serve orphaned children in Africa and the start of a lovely new romance, does she really want to?
Getting It Right the Second Time Around is a truly delightful read. In turns funny, heartwarming and with a twinge of romance, it’s a book that you won’t want to stop reading once you’ve started it. Author Jennifer Frank’s new work will appeal to any reader who loves chick lit, an uplifting story with a positive message, and especially those who like a story with an optimistic Christian message. I certainly hope that Jennifer Frank is working on her next novel, as I am hoping to see more from this promising new author in the future!
