God of Wonders (A Celebration of Knowing a Divine Creator) is a children’s Christian picture book written by Dominique Okonkwo with illustrations by Sarah Ugolotti. It follows a young boy who goes on an adventure to the beach and explores God in His natural creation. He observes the sand, the seaweed surrounding his feet, and the rising waves. With his shovel and bucket, he builds a sandcastle. Then he spots a seashell, picks it up, and out comes a big hermit crab—turns out, even crabs have their own hiding places. This makes him realize that God also looks after crabs. Next, he dives into the water and stumbles on something unexpected on the seabed. Finally, he rests on the beach watching the sky, the animals, happy families, and beautiful wonders all around him.

God of Wonders blends education and faith, inviting readers to really notice nature and see the creativity and care God put into the world. Dominique Okonkwo takes a simple day at the beach and turns it into a chance to teach some big lessons about both the environment and life. At the end of the book, there’s a “Did You Know?” section bursting with quirky facts—like how seaweed protects sea creatures or why waves stop short of the shore. But the science isn’t the only thing that stands out. The book really captures how great it feels to just be outside, sharing time with people you love. The illustrations are vivid and capture the vibrancy and fun of a day at the beach with imagery that makes one want to jump right into the action. Overall, God of Wonders leaves you feeling thankful for the world’s beauty, a little smarter about how it works, and inspired to get out there and explore it yourself.
