Sandy Par’s Gorilla Golfer: It's All In the sWINg is a refreshing and accessible guide for beginners eager to navigate the often intimidating world of golf. The book offers a unique blend of practical advice, humor, and relatable storytelling, making it more than just a standard golf manual. The book sets itself apart by positioning itself as an “Off-Course Caddy” for novices. Par addresses the physical aspects of the game and the mental and emotional challenges that beginners might face. This guide is particularly engaging because it focuses on the game's nuances—the unwritten rules, etiquette, and common pitfalls often overlooked in traditional golf literature.

Gorilla Golfer’s strength is its ability to distill information from various platforms—websites, magazines, and social media—into a cohesive narrative. While it may not claim to be the ultimate golf manual, it offers a holistic overview for those just starting out. The conversational tone and practical tips make it an easy read, and its emphasis on building confidence on the course is particularly valuable. The information needed to learn or improve a golf game is detailed. There are a few images to illustrate movement, but the lack of visual demonstration could make it challenging for someone unfamiliar with the course layout and swing positions and movements. Par pens this book with humor and personality, which keeps readers engaged. Whether you’re a novice or just someone looking to brush up on the basics, this book introduces the world of golf, filling a much-needed gap in golf literature.

I am a big fan of golf so I decided to get this book and it is amazing from the first pages. "Gorilla Golfer" is an absolute gem for anyone looking to enjoy the game of golf without getting bogged down by technicalities. The book takes you on a lighthearted yet informative journey through the sport, packed with humor and insightful advice that resonates with both beginners and experienced players. What I loved most about "Gorilla Golfer" is its approachable style. It doesn't bombard you with intricate golf jargon. Instead, it offers a refreshing perspective that boosts your confidence and makes you feel like you're learning alongside a friend. The author skillfully blends practical tips with entertaining anecdotes, making it a delightful read from start to finish.

Whether you're a novice feeling intimidated by the idea of an 18-hole course or a seasoned golfer looking to rekindle your love for the game, this book serves as the perfect companion. It's about enjoying the process, the camaraderie, and the simple joys of golf. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to embrace the sport with a smile!

Sandy includes a great mix of useful facts for newbies, like myself who has never played golf but am wanting to try, and combines with beautifully poetic text that expresses his heartfelt love for the game of golf. His descriptions of braving the fairway inspire me to want to experience it too!
And the info including the history of golf (involving sheperds in Scotland getting bored and hitting rocks with their herding staffs!) and detailed information on the rules, tips, social etiquette and more are a fantastic reference. The diagrams and bullet points help immensely too. Whether you're a rookie golfer like me, a casual player or someone who needs to learn for business outing purposes, Gorillia Golfer is the perfect book!!

In a world where the game of golf often seems shrouded in tradition and complexity, "Gorilla Golfer: It’s all In the sWINg” emerges as a guiding voice for those new to the sport. This book distinguishes itself by addressing an audience frequently overlooked in golf literature—the beginner.

What makes "Gorilla Golfer" particularly noteworthy is its foundational approach. It doesn't attempt to be an exhaustive encyclopedia of golf knowledge. Instead, it aims to serve as a bridge for casual or rookie players who may feel daunted by the prospect of taking on a full 18-hole course. It's crafted to be more of a companion than a manual, focusing on bolstering a player’s confidence rather than overwhelming them with technical details.

The author has identified and filled a significant gap in golf resources. Sandy Par offers a mix of insights into game nuances, emotional aspects, and etiquette, supplementing the conventional focus on techniques and swing mechanics. This inclusion of do's and don'ts, which are often glossed over in more traditional guides, provides a well-rounded perspective that can be especially beneficial to those just starting their golfing journeys.

For anyone stepping onto the course for the first time or looking to gain a better understanding of golf beyond just the technicalities, "Gorilla Golfer" provides a great perspective. It demystifies aspects of the game, making golf more approachable and enjoyable for beginners.

I’ve never played golf, so I was unsure about "Gorilla Golfer - It's all in the sWINg." But when I got it for my husband, I was surprised. The funny and easy-to-read style pulled me in right away. Even if you don't know golf, this book is fun and interesting. I recommend it to everyone, golfer or not.

I found this book to be a fun and easy read that kept me turning the pages. It's not a reference for the avid golfer looking for tips but certainly for someone like me who is a fair-weather golfer. It provides some good general knowledge and tips for the novice player and keeps you reading with some entertaining humor that can appeal to all levels.

This book is a treasure trove of golf’s history shared in a lighthearted manner. I have been spending time on golf courses for more than forty years, first as a caddy then as a player and now as an occasional visitor to the 19th hole. I was surprised by how much I learned from this book. It is a well written and very organized approach to explaining the game. An enjoyable and educational read for all plyers regardless of their level of experience.

If you've never played golf, like many people, this is a great start. I highly recommend it for its excellent history description and all the fine points of the game. Very well written!

Deb Takes Her Life Back

This was a really fun book! It provided lots of information to help me feel more knowledgeable and confident as a new golfer, but did it all in a funny and casual way. Reading it felt like an old pro was taking me under their wing, inducting me into the golf community. I think any golfer, new or seasoned, would really enjoy this read!

This book serves as a great guide for those new to golf. It covers the basics in an approachable way and is not overwhelming like other books. Highly recommend!

Decades in, I'm STILL not very good, but I do love golf - and that's what this book captures. It's packed with useful tips (and I can always use some), but the fun of the book - and there is lots - is its deep love and respect for the game. There's some great history, notes on course etiquette - it even explains handicaps, which I've never managed to puzzle out. It's a treasure chest, and a really good time.

This book is a delightfully unique entry into the world of sports literature, blending humor, practical advice, and a fresh perspective on the game of golf. The book, ostensibly about a gorilla who masters the game of golf, offers more than just a quirky premise. It serves as an insightful and entertaining guide that both novice and experienced golfers will find valuable.
What sets "Gorilla Golfer" apart is its ability to balance entertainment with practical advice. The tips and techniques are solid and grounded in real golfing principles, yet they are presented in a way that feels fresh and less intimidating than traditional golf manuals. The gorilla's challenges and triumphs on the course are reflective of the common struggles all golfers face, making his successes feel both relatable and inspirational.

I'm not great at sports, but have an interest in golf as I prefer to compete against myself for incremental improvements over time. I know next to nothing about golf, so I was excited to read this book. For me, it was a good intro to the sport. It's a nice combination of motivational storytelling, tactical information, and coverage on the culture and etiquette of golf. If anything, this book got me more interested in golf, and I'm excited to have added it to my library.
