Want to take a peek at Jack the Ripper, ol’ Leather Apron, in his resting place? Or how about the cemetery where the Highgate Vampire staked the dead? And while you're at it, visit the past through a time machine hidden among the glyphs. Gravers: What Bonds Old Bones by Lande Jewels is a collection of poems about the homes of London’s dead. It dives into the history behind each columbarium, cemetery, crypt, and tomb. We explore their architecture, plants, common traditions, culture, and values of the people buried there from their origins to the current times. It’s nothing short of a little pastime pleasure while exploring Egyptian, Roman, Greek, and London crossovers in the afterlife.

I loved the pictures that came before their poems. It served as the foundation of the image and background of the poem and its story. I had fun learning a few ‘dead’ words like columbarium, apse, and catafalque. I don’t use them, but I would like to in the future. I also was amazed at how accurate the information was. So much was squeezed together like sardines; I had to slow down in some parts to grasp everything. I did some research on the few lines that caught my eye and found London even more intriguing than ever before. How spooky a few dry bones can be when they’re hiding a secret! Something that I couldn’t forget was the language and how dark the humor got as I read on. In truth, I’ve never read something so intellectually accurate in the form of poetry as in Lande Jewels' Gravers: What Bonds Old Bones.
