In Hell Fire by Janine R. Pestel, the Centerville Fire Department’s fair ended on a sad note with the death of two firefighters. Johann and Robert have been working together as demon hunters for the last few months. Theresa, Johann’s sister, draws their attention to the news about two victims of spontaneous human combustion. It rarely happens to a single person, but having two cases within minutes of each other and in the same location is unheard of. Both victims were members of the Centerville Fire Department. Johann, Robert, and Theresa went to Centerville, Idaho, to investigate these incidents. The two victims at the fair were not the first to spontaneously combust, and the evidence points to the vengeful spirit of a firefighter who died a year ago when his house burned down.
Hell Fire: Father Gunter, Demon Hunter Book 8 by Janine R. Pestel is a compelling and suspenseful horror novel. The fast-paced and surprising twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not turn the pages fast enough! The characters were well-developed and authentic. The superb character development balances the big picture and a deeper and more emotional inner story. By embracing their fears and challenges, the demon hunters must accomplish their goal of finding the one responsible for the deaths. They had to learn who and what to trust to survive. The story was brilliantly written and had me hooked from the start until the end. It was much more than I expected and exceeded my expectations by far.
