Henrietta Wants to Be a Mom by Kasey Precht follows Henrietta the Turkey, who lives on a farm with lots of other animals. While she loves her life there, she feels that she is missing something and longs to be a mother. The other animals on the farm all have their children and she feels as though she is missing out. She tries to show this to the farmer by looking through his window every day, and eventually, he brings home a new turkey called Copper to be her mate. They spend all of their time together and Henrietta might finally get her chance to be a mom, provided that she can find the right spot on the farm to lay her eggs.
Kasey Precht has written a charming tale with Henrietta Wants to Be a Mom. The pictures are bright and colorful and show that poor Henrietta is lonely on the farm. While it doesn't say much on the subject, this could be an introductory book for children into how babies are made. There is nothing specific about it, but it could be used as a stepping stone. I think young readers will empathize with Henrietta and her plight, and enjoy the story. They may also be interested if they live on a farm or like to visit them. It can show them the different types of animals that live on farms. An entertaining short story to read at bedtime. I would recommend it for younger children around the 3-5 age range.
