Heroes, Holidays, and Hope: Volume 3 is a collection of military-inspired romance stories by authors Sharon Wray, D.C. Stone, Megan Michelle, Dania Voss, and Laura M. Baird. One Night by Firelight tells the story of Abe and Daphne. On her way to her friend’s wedding, Daphne’s rental car breaks down in the middle of a heavy rainstorm. Fate intervenes when Abe stops and offers to give Daphne a ride. Abe happens to be attending the same wedding and is also on a side mission to uncover long-buried family secrets. Meanwhile, Daphne must accept that her ballet dreams may be over after her accident. There is undeniable chemistry between Abe and Daphne, but both find it difficult to open their hearts to love again. Finding Love with the Navy SEAL follows Jamey and Remi. Remi, a wedding planner, is in charge of her best friend’s wedding when Jamey appears unexpectedly to surprise his sister, the bride. Remi is instantly attracted to the military man, though she believes it could never work. Jamey feels the same, and sparks fly between them. They agree to keep it casual, but soon find themselves falling in love.

This anthology is a heartfelt tribute to fallen military personnel, with each story centered around Memorial Day celebrations. Despite each author’s unique writing style, a harmonious flow connects the stories. Characters are likable and relatable, and their emotional connections feel authentic. The overarching themes binding these stories together are second chances and found family. With the varying levels of steam and intimacy, I would recommend this book to more mature readers—some of us might be biting our bottom lip more than others. Each story includes a brief summary with information about the prevalent themes at the beginning, while author information is added at the end. I found this to be helpful in a collection such as this, especially if one considers indulging in more writing from these authors. Heroes, Holidays, and Hope by Dania Voss, Laura M. Baird, et al. is perfect for readers who enjoy romance while also appealing to a broader audience.
