His Baby Dilemma by Catherine Lanigan is a contemporary romance novel. The main protagonists in the book are Mica Barzonni, a farmer who wants to continue his father’s legacy, and Grace Railton, a fashion designer and former beauty queen pageant title holder who likes the city life. The story starts when Grace returns from France to Indian Lake to help her Aunt Louise with her ice cream shop. It has been several years since she has been back to Indian Lake and her memories of the small town resurface when she arrives. She soon runs into Mica, whom she has known growing up and who was a former teenage crush. Mica, however, has changed physically and, as a result of an accident, is unable to use one arm. He also still tends to look down on her high-flying ambitions of fame and the spotlight as he sees it. However, the chemistry between them is undeniable and after a short fling Grace flies back to France. But, a while later, Grace shows up again with a baby in tow and Mica suddenly finds himself a father. The story then takes off as Grace and Mica each struggle with decisions and choices for parenthood and love to see if they can both make it work since they live in different worlds.
His Baby Dilemma by Catherine Lanigan is a typical boy-meets-girl romance novel and fans of the genre would enjoy it. It has all of the elements of drama, suspense, and of course the underlying chemistry and attraction between the main pair. In this case, living poles apart as they do, both literally and figuratively, Mica and Grace have their own set of challenges along with making sure their child is their first priority. The writing style is fluid and fast-paced and the characters are relatable. I thought the twists in the plot toward the end were interesting and make this book an enjoyable contemporary story. This is a fun read for romance novel fans.
