‘I was Framed!’, Signed, God is a journey into the nature of God, man, sin, and the devil. Doug Webb opens his book with the question: Why does God allow war, famine, disease, sin? If God loves all mankind, he should not allow suffering. The book also asks the question: Who is God, and is He in control? The provided ‘proof’ of God’s love for man is that he sent his only son Jesus to redeem us, thwarting Lucifer’s attempts to lead us into damnation. The book cites numerous passages from the Bible to answer those questions and support Webb’s conclusions, including the critical one that has worried many Christians: If God is powerful and all knowing, why did He allow Lucifer and his angels to rebel against him and to torment mankind?
As an ordained associated pastor and elder, Doug Webb presents his Bible study booklet from an understandable and predictable point of view. I was Framed is unashamedly targeted at a Christian audience, the objective being to reinforce the scripture and the Old and New Testament history. Webb’s deep knowledge of the Bible comes through clearly as he plays detective in an attempt to resolve questions he raises, using Bible passages as ‘proofs’. For Christians who believe, this short work will reinforce their faith in the Bible and the conclusions drawn about God. However, the work cannot be considered an in-depth philosophical treatment of God, the nature of sin, and existence of the devil. For those answers, the reader will have to search elsewhere.
