In a Land Far Away: A Windflower Saga Story for Kids: The Windflower Saga, Volume 28 is a picture book for children written by Aleksandra Layland. While most of Layland’s epic fantasy novels are geared for young adult and adult readers, the author has also penned several tales in the Windflower Saga that are suitable for children and younger readers. In a Land Far Away is the story of a dreamer who finds herself transported to a magical, faraway land where she travels on a newborn foal past meadows, mountains, canyons and desert until she finally reaches the sea. Once she’s there, she meets up with other young characters who appear in The Windflower Saga. Layland’s illustrations show a variety of landscapes in that faraway land, with grazing horses, distant mountain ranges and starry skies.

Aleksandra Layland’s picture book for children, In a Land Far Away: A Windflower Saga Story for Kids: The Windflower Saga, Volume 28, is a adventure story based on the author’s 29-volume series. While it’s suitable for reading on its own, a more informative introduction of Keri, Kalina and Leofric would give it more of a “complete in itself” feeling. Layland’s lyrics are charming and maintain the dreamy atmosphere, and the illustrations that accompany each page are gorgeous and filled with details that are apt to delight young readers. In a Land Far Away is an excellent selection for story time; however, the text is also geared for young readers to enjoy on their own. In a Land Far Away: A Windflower Saga Story for Kids: The Windflower Saga, Volume 28 is highly recommended.
