Jerry Baggett is a long-time Los Angeles business man, Southern California yachtsman and author. Jerry grew up on Cape Hatteras Island, North Carolina and the Gulf Coast of Alabama where he developed a love for the sea. After graduating from the University of Alabama, he found his way to Los Angeles where he spent the last forty years splitting his time between various business interests and his love for cruising and diving the ever-fascinating barrier islands of Southern California with his family. Jerry has been a member of the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club for many years.

When Navy Lieutenant Dick McGowin's plane crashes into the Pacific ocean off the coast of Catalina Island, little does he know how much the course of his life will change. Local nurse Sam Brooks comes to his rescue and there is an instant attraction between them which they both try to deny to themselves. Sam's personal life is complicated as her relationship with the local doctor and employer is coming to an end and her mother's murderer has just been released from prison. When Dick and Sam discover the violent murder of a young woman, they find themselves in the middle of a drug enforcement investigation. A club run by a powerful and sadistic businessman, Harvey Marino, seems to be heavily involved in drugs and prostitution. With a spate of deaths from new experimental opiates, is he somehow linked to the murders? Sam and Dick's investigations uncover a dark underworld of violence and crime. Sam also has to face shocking revelations about her past and the night of her mother's murder.
In the Blink of an Eye by Jerry Baggett is a well-written novel with so many interesting layers that are constantly peeled away. The main storyline of Sam and Dick's relationship has realistic dynamics and the development of their characters as the story progressed was wonderful. There are many sub-plots which were admirably weaved into the story. The terrifying character of Marino was superb; his actions were so heartless and chilling. The scene where one of Marino's victims was trapped and tortured was hard-hitting and excellently written. There are terrific moments of tension throughout which made the plot an absolute page-turner. There are many emotional scenes too as Sam has to face her past. In the Blink of an Eye by Jerry Baggett has a very clever plot with everything a good novel should have; romance, excitement, danger, and intrigue.
