Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation: A Solution for Corporate Environments: Post Covid-19 Pandemic by Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea is a groundbreaking book that redefines the relationships between business, society, and the environment. In this book, the author explains how mindless business practices can affect the lives of communities and the environment. Drawing inspiration from the formation of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) that handles integrated reporting in the view of addressing global disasters, the author shines a powerful light on the importance of accountability in business practices and especially in a world that is being torn apart by financial setbacks, global pandemics, and natural disasters. This book proposes a holistic approach to business and discusses those business practices that can create value without robbing future generations of physical and social spaces where they can evolve.

In this book, readers will understand the role of the IIRC in fostering a culture that treats business, society, and the environment as inseparable. Dr. Ramaboea discusses global adoption status with regard to integrated reporting practices and how good choices within the IIRC framework engineers change in business practices; she explores the elements that nurture good internal functioning in the reporting, expounds on the theories that are intrinsically related to integrated reporting practices, and outlines the benefits of adopting this approach to business accountability. Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation is a timely book that is well-researched and addresses critical issues affecting the financial world, communities, and the environment. It is a book that policymakers and leaders need to read and business stakeholders should not only study but think about constantly when making business decisions. While it is written in an academic style, it contains information that drives important discussions when it comes to creating sustainable value in business.

Benjamin Franklin states that by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. Covid-19 is one of the most recent disasters that shook the world in several ways. Global pandemics and calamities like Covid-19 have been in existence for ages, and they are not likely to stop anytime soon. Consequently, the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) was created to deal with the effects of global disasters on business, society, and the natural environment. In addition to explaining the strategic use of the IIRC’s integrated reporting practices, Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation by Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea calls to world leaders, government officials, scholars, and more to operate sustainably and consider the natural environment and the society in which they operate.

Expect some thorough and elaborate explanations, including definitions of business terms like human capital, manufactured capital, tacit knowledge, intellectual property, and more. I had no idea what tacit knowledge is before reading this book, and now I understand why some employees seem to be more productive than others. The messages about sustainability and the need for interconnectedness in the business world will appeal to leaders, parents, decision-makers, business owners, climate change activists, and every human concerned about the future of our planet. Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation is quite practical as the solutions offered in the book are portrayed in real-life situations. A part of the book involves some calculations and theories that clarify some of the author's concepts. Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea's book is what society needs in a time when the effects of Covid-19 are still quite obvious in most of the world's day-to-day activities and businesses.

This book’s relevance in these challenging times cannot be overlooked. Its title automatically gives you an idea of what it is all about. Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation: A Solution for Corporate Environments: Post Covid-19 Pandemic by Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea appeals to global business and financial, educational, and environmental bodies, and communities in general. It points to a key reflection in an age when we are faced with a pandemic, global warming, economic uncertainty, and other causes for concern: How does your organization create sustainable value over the long term? Your organization’s answer is a step that will determine how you will be able to sustain the needs of posterity without any compromise. This book shows a conceptually integrated model that Dr. Ramaboea developed during her doctoral studies that adhere to the practices of the International Integrated Reporting Council.

Sustainable value is of critical importance as it involves the integration of economic, environmental, and social dimensions of sustainability. Such dimensions must also figure in financial analysis and investment decision-making. It sounds good on paper but it remains a big challenge, as many researchers and practitioners still struggle to integrate these dimensions. Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation will help to inform you about the sustainable value approach. As entities respond differently to the different elements following the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Ramaboea advocates and explains the use of IIRC’s practices that may provide a brainstorming for your organization to shape important substance for the years ahead. It is a call to action that encourages long-term thinking that even the layman will appreciate. In a nutshell, this book is a must-read for everyone, because broader thinking about value creation is a process that involves all of us.

Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation: A Solution for Corporate Environments Post Covid-19 Pandemic by Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea is a non-fiction guide that expands on fundamental principles under the charge of the non-profit Value Reporting Foundation. In layperson terms, there exists a method of reporting that gives investors a true picture of a company's value, and how likely that value is to either grow or bust. Structured within the valuation model are far more external factors than the market drivers anyone who watches Bloomberg is familiar with and is inclusive of markers that have historically been viewed as ancillary, such as environmental impact, which Ramaboea highlights from beyond the shadow of another marker we didn't see coming: COVID-19.

As an individual who works in finance and does so in the public sector, the transparency of integrated reporting is of genuine interest to me. Dr. Ramaboea does a brilliant job of breaking down the importance of transparent practice and the theories that round up Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation. The book reads like a thesis or a dissertation, albeit one I would presume did not require much defending, as Dr. Ramaboea is clear and concise, offering streamlined overviews and direct correlation between concept and successful implementation. The most interesting to me is chapter four and, more specifically, the section on Connectivity, which is truly the meat and bones of the Integrated Model in its purest form. It is perhaps the first grounds-based correlation ever made between sustainability of financial growth and tangible bionomics. There is an economic value in conservationism and having people like Dr. Ramaboea actively championing them gives me real hope for the future. Very highly recommended.

Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation is a work of non-fiction in the business and finance genre. It is suitable for all ages and was penned by Dr. Magdeline Ramaboea. The book is a guide for businesses and other organizations to reflect upon the challenges of the Covid-19 global pandemic and how being open to change and focusing on building a business that exists as part of wider society can help with adapting to future challenges. The book in particular champions a unique conceptual model based on IIRC practices and principles that emphasize the inseparable nature of society, the environment, and the business world.

This book has been written with the expert knowledge of the author on full display, yet I must stop to compliment her on the accessible way the information is presented to the reader. The focus on sustainability with an emphasis on businesses co-existing peacefully with the environment was particularly excellent as there are many businesses, both large and small, that are seeking this goal without a clear answer as to what approach to do so works best. Integrated Model for Sound Internal Functioning and Sustainable Value Creation is a must-read both for people looking to start a business and for leaders of established organizations. By analysing the work of the International Integrated Reporting Council and breaking down how their practices can be adapted into a business model, Dr. Ramaboea has created a work that has the potential to bring about long lasting and positive changes to businesses everywhere.
