It’s 1875, and Abigale Millerton is alone in the world after her adopted grandfather’s death. Feeling the need to be closer to him and to the land she loves, she leaves her Denver school and returns to take over his Colorado ranch. The trouble is that it’s been untended for months. Most of the livestock was sold, except an old milk cow, a loyal dog, and two broken-down plow horses. The barn roof is leaking, supplies are low, and winter is coming fast. Abigale sets to work getting ready for it, but an accident forces her to rely on the help of her childhood best friend, Seth Holt. The boy she left behind has grown into a fine young man and sparks fly as they fix up the ranch and try to solve the mystery of a timber thief. When Abigale decides to spend Christmas and winter with Seth’s family, she must examine her feelings and decide if she’s ready to take a chance on love.
Just in Time for Christmas: A High-Country Christmas Novella, by noted inspirational author Davalynn Spencer, is a delightful holiday read. Spencer’s characters are realistic and likable, and her story is engaging. But it’s her description that really stands out. She paints pictures with her words and makes you feel, as well as see, the setting and atmosphere. This is a sweet Christian romance novella with plenty of wholesome charm. If you’re looking for a delightful romance to curl up with on a cozy winter evening next to the fire, this is the one. For fans of Christian historical romance and also historical romance lovers.
