Born and raised in New Orleans, LA, Kristen Wade grew up with a love of adventure stories, often cultivating elaborate worlds in her bedroom and backyard. This 'pretend play' developed into a passion for film, creative writing, and theater in high school. From there, she went to the University of Georgia and the University of Texas business schools before joining the creative utopia of public accounting!
When Kristen became a mother, she left the corporate world to spend her days in the blissful, chaotic, and imaginative land of kids. Storytelling and entertaining became a necessity, and not just at home. She started a family photography business and began writing children's books and multi-award-winning screenplays in the wee hours. Finally, with the wonderful encouragement of family and friends, Kristen found the courage to pen her first novel, Keep Close.

Ren and her family are out at sea on a sailing trip when their idyllic holiday is cut short by a mysterious meteor shower, which damages their boat and leaves them stranded with no possibility of rescue for a considerable period. She takes it upon herself to get her younger siblings and grandfather to dry land. She is unaware that the meteor shower that shipwrecked them has caused unbelievable damage on land, and the few survivors, like Fitz and his brothers, face a deadly new threat that came with the meteors. Only time will tell if these two groups will find a haven or become victims of a world under attack in Kristen Wade’s Keep Close.
Kristen Wade captivates readers with masterful storytelling and engaging dialogue that paints a compelling world-ending narrative. The character development is good, making each character's motivations clear and relatable. She crafts the narrative so that there are no outright villains; instead, every character has a hint of heroism as they strive to make the right choices and protect those they care about. The world-building is authentic, addressing rising carbon emissions and their potential threat to our future. The dialogue resonates with depth, emphasizing the family theme, illustrated through Ren's commitment to her younger siblings and Fitz's unwavering resolve to safeguard his own, showing contrasting yet relatable leadership styles. The distinctive narrative style allows for the emergence of a touching romantic subplot amidst the turmoil of fleeing from the unknown. Wade deserves plaudits for setting a high standard with Keep Close.
