Kevin de Bruyne (Scouted!) by Magnus Lundgren takes you on the journey of one of football’s smartest midfielders, from a small town in Belgium to lifting the Champions League trophy. The book follows Kevin, a humble but tenacious boy who, after being rejected by a foster family for being too quiet, scores several goals in one half just days later. You watch him grow at Genk, face challenges at Chelsea, explode at Wolfsburg, and become a key figure at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Along the way, fictional guides like Enzo Gatto, Professor Soccerologist, and Nina Cruz break down statistics, tactics, and drills in a way that brings the story to life. You get a sense of Kevin’s determination, his two-footed skill from practicing with flower pots, and the injuries he had to overcome. If you love football stories with real-life grit and drama, this is an easy and engaging read. Can Kevin keep defying expectations every time he’s on the pitch?
Magnus Lundgren’s Kevin de Bruyne (Scouted!) is a lively sports biography that mixes storytelling with real stats and tactical insights. The pacing is smooth—you zip from Kevin’s childhood in Drongen to record-breaking seasons in the Bundesliga and Premier League without feeling lost. I liked how the book shows his relationships: the quiet influence of his wife, Michele, the encouragement from coaches, and even his playful side at home when he's gaming and baking. The tactical breakdowns by Nina Cruz make his genius understandable, and Enzo Gatto’s voice adds humor and energy to the book. Injuries, tough transfers, and big matches all feel like you're right there with Kevin, and his ability to stay calm through it all is really impressive. It's a solid read for any football fan, no matter your age, especially if you're curious about how a quiet kid worked his way up to becoming a superstar just by putting in the work and staying focused.
