Fantasies are most often thought of but never realized. In Life Accidentally, Katy Fata changes Briana’s outlook on life. The story opens with Briana sitting beside her mother in the hospital. Dr. Alex Ferrante walks in to check on her mother, only Briana’s mind automatically goes into hyperdrive like a teenager. She hangs onto his compliment: “You are special.” Briana isn’t a teenager, though. She is a mother of two children and married to Peter. Peter had a gambling habit and made Briana feel horrible with his comments of “You’re cute, but you could never be beautiful.” Peter leaves a note for Briana and disappears, but then her husband’s past catches up to her in the parking lot of the grocery store. Rocco comes to collect his payment for the loan he has given Peter, and he intends to get paid back through Briana.
Katy Fata’s Life Accidentally kept me entranced with the emotions that Briana went through. I felt bad for her at first, but toward the end, I became so angry with Briana’s choices that I yelled at her to open her eyes and quit playing games! Rocco and Alex become more than just fantasies, and she has to choose between them. I would have chosen Rocco because Alex seemed to be the vision of a one-night stand. Rocco ensured that no harm would happen to Briana, and he genuinely wanted to be with her. This is a great story that will evoke strong feelings in readers. The explicit scenes were tasteful, but I would caution young readers. Life Accidentally is an intense romance I highly recommend. I would rate this book beyond 5-stars. Who does Briana choose in the end? Does she ever see Peter again? What did Rocco have her do to pay off Peter’s debt?
