In Little Pug Big Heart, Holly Moore introduces us to Penelope Pug and her five siblings. Penelope hopes Petunia, Porky, Pierre, Patricia, and playful Pickles find their forever home on adoption day. The pups meet families that see each puppy’s special traits. Some are looking for playful pups, others for cuddle bugs. Selfless Penelope watches as the perfect families find their perfect pup and go home with their new families. Soon she is the only one left. Will she find her perfect family? Adoption Day is not over so there is still a chance.
I found this book to be delightful. The illustrations are fun and will engage children. Holly Moore brings the topic of pet adoption to the fore with Little Pug Big Heart. As the special human for two rescue pups, this book warms my heart. I also love that it is used for a fundraising effort for Pug Hearts of Houston. This book would be perfect in the home or classroom and for children 3 to 8. The story focuses not only on adoption but also on what makes each pup special. Children can see that the pups, like the families, are all different, with different personalities. I loved the pictures of the adopted pugs in this book. It is heartwarming to see so many sweet puppies that have found their forever homes. Word of caution…you might find yourself falling in love with a rescue pup. I hope you do because life will never be the same. Let a rescue pup rescue you.
