Love Unfeigned by Nadine C. Keels is a novella. Lorraine Tyson and Isaiah James are childhood friends and she used to call him 'braces boy.' Her first meeting with him is on the playground where she challenges him at a game. They connect well after that. The story is about how their relationship matures into love and how they slowly become very attached to each other. When they break up, the relationship turns into one filled with jealousy and resentment.
The story is beautiful and the development of Lorraine's love for Isaiah, from that of a friend to a lover, is done in a subtle way. The characters of both Lorraine and Isaiah are powerful and very likable. The two remain in readers' minds after they put down the book. The couple's romantic gestures, their first meeting, their bonding as friends which slowly turns into love is nicely developed by the author. The characters grow up together and they relate so well.
The author's expressions and descriptions are very visual and poetic. The wordplay and language are expressive and rich. It is a beautiful love story that slowly evolves and matures into an intense romance. The sadness in the story comes when Lorraine and Isaiah break up and start hating each other. Isaiah's family also starts disliking Lorraine. Will Lorraine and Isaiah forget the bad times and get back together and rekindle their romance? Will their love and trust for each other triumph again?
