Marked for Death by Brian O'Hare is the eighth installment in the Inspector Sheehan Mysteries series. The murder of Sir Theodore Haynes, an extremely wealthy knight of the realm, has sparked considerable speculation. Inspector Sheehan and his team must not only discover the identity of the murderer but also understand their motives. The list of suspects continues to grow since Theodore was not a well-liked individual. Suspects even go back to his school days. They cannot rule out a political angle, particularly the involvement of the New IRA and its unrest. As the killer strikes again, Inspector Sheehan has to determine what the victims knew and what evidence might be concealed. With time running out, the endgame remains uncertain.
Brian O'Hare has skillfully developed a team under Inspector Sheehan that tackles the unrest in Ireland. The brilliance of Marked for Death lies not only in its murder mystery but also in the dynamics of the team, the dangers they face, and the obstacles they must overcome. The fast-paced race against time will keep you glued to the pages. Each book in this series provides a deeper insight into the lives of these agents, including their promotions, relationships, and mistakes, which keeps readers coming back for more. I have thoroughly enjoyed every novel I have read by Brian O'Hare. He immerses you in the mystery and surprises you at every turn. You realize Inspector Sheehan's brilliance when he reveals the clues so skillfully hidden in plain sight. Each new book in Brian O'Hare's library becomes my new favorite.
