Marvelous by Alexandra Hoffman is a heartwarming story about Marcus, a creative little boy with ADHD. He enjoys building things and uses every opportunity to create something new. Marcus calls each creation his marvel. But sometimes, his ADHD makes it challenging for him to focus on class-time activities. One day, his teacher asks the students to draw a blueprint for a new school playground. Marcus is excited to work on his project. The only problem is, no matter how hard he tries, he struggles to sit still and concentrate on his drawing. During the school day, he'd use different objects to craft unique playground concepts instead of focusing on the activities at hand. When the day of the presentation arrives, something wonderful happens, surprising the entire class. Read the book to discover the remarkable thing that occurs.
Alexandra Hoffman's Marvelous is an incredible book that helps children with ADHD see their unique abilities as beneficial qualities rather than challenges to be ashamed of. The story is immersive and inspiring, offering an optimistic outlook on creative thinking, thinking outside the box, self-love, and empathy for others. Marcus' school life is relatable to children who struggle with staying focused during school activities, making this an extraordinary resource for kids, parents, caregivers, and educators navigating the world of ADHD. Beatriz Mello's illustrations are engaging and vivid, helping to bring Marcus' fascinating and creative world to life. Hoffman does an excellent job of balancing both the educational and fun aspects of the book, offering a positive spin on ADHD while still highlighting some of its challenges. Marvelous will be a fantastic addition to any library. Teachers and parents can easily use it to help encourage empowerment, resilience, and confidence in children with ADHD. I highly recommend it.
