If you're looking for a good murder mystery, try Murder By The Collar by T Jerome Miller. This former PolyGram, Motown, Capitol, and Warner Music Group entertainment executive has turned his creative juices into creating a life, music and corruption masterpiece. The marriage between the gospel music industry and the streets of crime incites an explosive reaction in such a way that people will keep begging for more. Sam Crystal wanted to die because he felt God had failed him; he attempted suicide several times without any luck. He was a great singer, but wondered why was he living in such an impoverished state. Where was God when he needed Him? Unfortunately, Sam’s wish was granted, but not in the way Sam hoped for - he was murdered. Now Detective-Lieutenant Bridget Love must go back to her roots and face the distrust of the church, particularly Malachi Baptist Church and that of Bishop E.E. Covington, to solve the murder. As we all know, everyone is not who they seem to be ... especially in the church.
I enjoyed this book and discovered that it's a part of a series featuring Detective-Lieutenant Bridget Love. This book is for mature audiences only. As you begin to read, you will discover a mixture of urban and congregational living that speaks about truth, circumstances, and purpose. Personally, to see a woman lead a homicide team and to become promoted as a Detective-Lieutenant in a male dominated position presented an unique element to the story. It appears that the next book, Sinners and Vigilantes, will offer some of the same intrigue and mystery as this book, but with an added twist. If you are a mystery buff, add this one to your library. Looking forward to more from this author.
