A great work in the urban fantasy genre, Nadia Rising by Forrest Dartt is a compelling story with extraordinary characters and twists that readers won’t see coming. Dartt’s imagination creates mythical characters like the Simurgh and others with extraordinary powers. This is a masterpiece in urban fantasy, a story that will appeal immensely to fans of the genre. Nadia becomes queen of her people and she has inherited tremendous gifts — the power to heal people by simply casting her shadow over them and the gift of transforming destinies by her mere touch. But her gifts belong to someone else, someone with deadly allies from the Underworld, and who will stop at nothing to regain his powers. But what makes things even more complicated is that Nadia may have a traitor amongst her innermost circle.
This is a highly imaginative work and I enjoyed the whole story starting from the prologue, which reads like the myth of a fallen angel. The reader is introduced to wonderful characters and a great setting. I particularly loved the portraits of Nadia, Dorri, Shiva, Travis, Rasha, and the roles they play in the story. There is no way the reader can tell where the story is going and the author prepares surprises at every turn. Forrest Dartt has a gift for plot and character and readers will love to see how he brings his characters into the huge conflict that makes the plot move ahead. Nadia Rising is a surprisingly entertaining story with characters that readers will love to follow. Great writing, awesome and intense action, and a breathtaking plot. Can’t wait for the next book from this author.
