A winner on so many levels! "Non-Local Flow", a life via literature, could hardly be better, not just for its chosen genre, but because of the overall spirit of the book. Thankfully, Mary Orme Ellis did not choose to list this book in the genre of grief, for it is anything BUT a grief book. It is clearly a celebration of freedom and living that freedom. The corroboration of Mary Orme Ellis, in life, and her daughter, Tanya Orme, in death, hands readers the full monty. Nothing is held back; it is raw, dreamy, spiritual, daring, and mostly, breathtaking. Tanya passed in June 2009 as a passenger in a vehicular accident. She was just 24. Mary offers the reader her daughter's collection of art and sky-high journal entries, along with stunning photography and tributes from those around the world who knew her.
I firmly believe that this deep thinker and playful spirit, Tanya Orme, at the age of 24, was physically ripped from the grip of this world, which so loved and needed her vitality, to what surely must be some fantastic other place. A believer in so many things, she believed most in herself. Her mother Mary, with what I imagine to have been much emotion, elation, and moments of uncertainty, pulled together all of Tanya's random thoughts and draws her daughter for us, even after death. The love behind the creation is apparent on every page, and somehow, Mary managed to do it so well that we could almost breathe the beauty and excitement inside the heart and head of this free bird. This reviewer feels as if she was sailing with Tanya's soul for a short time.
