How prepared are we to handle the death of a loved one, legally, emotionally, and spiritually? Paths Through Despair To Gratitude and Faith by Anita Pernell-Arnold is an uplifting and useful tool for healing from the death of a deep love and how we can handle grief on our own. We usually do not speak about the death of a spouse or a loved one or someone in the family, and this book urges readers to discuss this kind of pain openly and frequently so that all the areas and issues that are affecting them can be resolved. Through this book, the author collects and integrates a selection of resources readily available for facilitators, bereaved spouses or partners.
I like that fact that the author has written a book on this relevant topic and she has brought together different approaches: from adult and transformative learning, psychiatric rehabilitation, spiritual guidance based on scriptures, and many other tools that give good guidance for spiritual bereavement. The topic has been handled well and touches the hearts of readers with the steps of developmental process and effective remedies to get over spousal loss. The sessions and the exercises in the book help readers to look at loss and grief with an entirely different perspective, and encourage them to start slowly, space their activities over time, and choose items that feel familiar. The book helps people with these types of problems to successfully return to health, find jobs, engage in social life, and create families.
