Rob Jones highlights the issue of school bullying in an illustrated children's book titled Poetic Pete. Pete is a talented young boy with a love for reading and writing. He has a natural gift for poetry that he uses to express his innermost feelings. However, Pete has a problem in the form of a schoolyard bully named Billy. Billy often harasses and makes fun of Pete and his poetry. With his parents' support, Pete enters his name in a poetry contest at school and wins a large amount of money. Meanwhile, his teacher organizes a class trip to the park called Wonderland but everyone has to pay an entrance fee. Billy lacks the money to fund his trip. Will Pete help Billy out? And how will Billy reciprocate?

Rob Jones uses captivating rhyme to tell a heartwarming tale about forgiveness and making friends. Poetic Pete is an absolute gem of a book. Jones sets the story around two young boys from very different backgrounds with seemingly nothing in common. These characters feel like real kids with distinct personalities who face different types of challenges in school. While Pete is the victim of Billy's bullying, Billy has his own issues to deal with, and he channels his anger through bullying and making fun of others. The illustrations by Lily Grace Jackson are the icing on the cake, and they complement Jones' storytelling brilliantly. Young readers will learn a valuable lesson about practicing empathy with this moving story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend parents introduce this book to their children.
